Things To Look For
When You Visit Or Drop Off.
- Are the instructors early? Instructors should
always be present before campers.
- Are the instructors enthusiastic and friendly?
- Is there a plan visible?
- Do the instructors show care and provide
encouragement?
- Do the instructors show a real enjoyment in
executing the program?
- Is the environment welcoming to parents?
- Does the instructor show a concern for all and
try to meet each participant's needs.
- Do the assistants spend extra time with the
participants - pre-camp, during camp, post-camp.
- Do all participants receive prizes and
recognition.
- Observe if the participants are actively engaged
most of the time. Active involvement probably means
more skills development and that is the most
important reason for selecting a camp.
- Do the instructors emphasize proper values such
as respect, attitude, sportsmanship and fair play.
- Parents must remember - if there is a problem,
it is essential to contact the head instructor or
director immediately. Don't wait for three days. A
quality program wants to fix situations immediately.
